11.12.10

Well this is perhaps the cutest thing I've ever heard..

21.11.10

I can't wait until I get my paws on the new Kanye West album tomorrow! From what I've heard from it so far and after seeing the Runaway movie, I really think this album is going to be special.

It's been a long day.

Only time for this:

30.10.10

Rachel, please don't go to the beach
Don't go...
Rachel, please, please stay here with me
Sighing...

Oooh...

Suddenly...
I land by the sea

Dead leaves...
Rinsing fish, we cry in our sleep
Lightly...

Oooh..

Darling

This new video makes me sad. Despite their best efforts to make it all happy, the fact that there's only three of them still makes me feel slightly sombre and doubtful.

Don't get me wrong, I adore The Drums, but I'm past that scene and look right now. I'm going for a far more sophisticated, slick approach. Not vintage bowling jackets, wrecked Levi's as well as the torn up Chuck Taylor's to match... more like tailored suits, a pair of glistening brogues and a can of wax in my hair.
But back to the music, I'm just generally into something more meaningful to be honest. I mean their music is like a summer romance to me. Yeah sure, they make those long summer days by the beach all worth while but as soon as fall kicks in it's all about buckling down with something more true and with better value. I'm sorry, but let's face it, apart from their credible rhythm The Drums don't really have any creativity or unique selling point about them. The majority of their songs last under three minutes and consist of practically the same layout of bass, drums, followed by vocals and then lead guitar. So simple and effective, yet possibly to simple and effective.

Back to the video: yes it's good, but I can see that grief in your eyes Jonny.

Besides, this video is miles better. Plus I love the speech during the intro of the song.

It hurts me that happiness doesn't appear

It's the title track of their album.. and yet somehow it didn't actually make the album.
But how the album all ties together (which was my burning question on this post) is now partially answered!

And let me also just state that this live recording of them is fucking amazing.

Happiness

I can go days without listening to a single song from this album, then there's those days (like today) where the entire album is all I can listen too.

Let me start by saying you will either find their music absolutely hilarious and over the top or you may see the potential and beauty in it.

There isn't a title track, which confuses me, I'm far too used to hearing a title track and thinking 'ah, I get the album now...' but oh no! Not hurts. They hurt me ever so slightly by doing this.

I think that this is my favourite track on the record.
The repetition of 'leave it unspoken' 4 minutes in leaves glaciers down my spine. Then there's the extremely dramatic build up, something that Murray Gold could of composed for The Doctor's death or something.
Like it or lump it, I'm a romantic. I love them. And Theo's eeriness, slushiness and 'sleuthiness' is growing on me.......
